Hang Tough Contemporary is delighted to announce an exclusive Artists Talk between Niall Staines and Michael McDermott at our Exchequer street gallery on Thursday 24th of February
Niall will be discussing his current solo exhibition ‘Isolation’ as well as the inspirations and influences behind his recognisably graphic style. This exhibition is a dynamic collection of digital prints that illustrate Niall’s personal experience of quarantine during the ongoing pandemic, and his unique perspective of the collective experiences of the wider community. His distinctive stretched pixels reflect the elongated months of 2020, where the days and weeks muddled together to create an indistinct interval of time during which people were oversaturated with digital imagery from their phones and social media platforms. Niall will discuss how this influential period of time is reflected within the imagery he has artfully manipulated for his limited print editions.
Michael McDermott is the current editor of Totally Dublin magazine and former co-founder and publisher of online culture guide Le Cool Dublin (2009-2015), Michael formed Neighbrhd to showcase his work and collaborations within the creativity community. His special interests include cultural studies and organising events such as festivals and information guides for the Dublin community.
This talk will be he first of a series of talks we host with our exhibition artists and will take place between 6:30 – 730pm on Thursday 24th of February at Hang Tough Contemporary, No. 4 Exchequer St, Dublin 2.
