Helen O’Higgins

Helen O'Higgins is an artist and printmaker living and working in Dublin. She studied Fine Art Print in NCAD and continues to practice in Black Church Print Studio, specialising in copper etching. Her work is an exploration of the architecture, culture, history and everyday life in Dublin City.

In her work, she often extracts a building from its surroundings in order to emphasise its form and to encourage the viewer to revisit these frequently ignored or forgotten pieces of our everyday landscape that contribute so much to the city's distinct character. She meticulously records these buildings, inviting the viewer to look beyond the mundane and to ignite people's memories of these places before the buildings and their stories disappear.
Whether drawing, etching, screen printing or painting, her work is detail oriented and though occasionally digital elements are incorporated, the focus is always on the craft and the handmade.
